Ash Wednesday

TGSC EM family,

As you read in the subject line for this email, today is Ash Wednesday.  But what is Ash Wednesday?  Why is it important?
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten Season and extends on into Easter.  In Christian tradition, it’s become a season of preparation and spiritual discipline.  It’s a time to focus and reflect on the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
During this time, Christians intentionally choose to set aside time for examination, instruction, repentance, and prayer.  Through these acts of discipline, we commune with the Father and the Son, and through the power of the Holy Spirit become increasingly conformed to His image.
We choose to die with Christ with the knowledge that we will be resurrected with Him one day.
We reflect on the Passion of Jesus and the ultimate sacrifice He made on the cross on our behalf.
We consider what impact His passion makes on our life.
We respond with faithful obedience under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Think about His love for you and consider how you can draw closer to Him during this season.
God bless you,
Pastor Joe
